Carville is rabid on Dean. The newly second termed Republican Bobby Jindal announces run for governor, and Louisianans vote for taxation without representation, knowingly and willfully when they re-elected the GOP's cabin boy, Jindal.
The once strong democrat state of Louisiana has gone retro-grade.
It's quite clear that Louisiana has been lost to the Democratic Party and the reality is...[yawn]. The state has found itself to be irrelevant on the national stage and is officially a throw away demographic. Carville knows it and isn't too happy either.
Mary Landrieu voted with Bush 87% of the time, Charlie Melancon's first term had a similar track record. Both voted for torture and expulsion of Habeas Corpus. Landrieu is one of the most ardent supporters of Joe Lieberman, and she is also one of the 7 Democratic Senators that blocked the filibustering Bush's most draconian Judges and legislation.
William Jefferson is still fighting to keep his job, and most likely will, despite being caught with $90,000 in his freezer, and will be a sore spot for the Democratic Party on the whole in `08.
The truth is, Democrats are Republican-lite in Louisiana and their shelf-life is becoming shorter and shorter because voting Democrats are leaving the state. In part, because of Katrina, but also in part, the local Party no longer represents them or their needs.
Another Louisiana exodus is in the works and that only bodes well for the GOP. The sad part of it is, the State Democratic Party did it to themselves, so they've got no one to blame but themselves. All I can do now is point and laugh, because "I told you so."
We don't have long to wait before what I say bares fruit. Jindal's campaign for Governor has officially fired up, (though has been running for a full two years already). And, he'll win it in '07, while the Democrats lose a Democrat Governor.
Why?
First, Jindal has mastered the art of Messiah emulation, and secondly, the voters of Louisiana believe they can vote for the Messiah. The reality is Jindal is a slow-motion train wreck, and is 100% PR created, but is very attractive to the dim-bulb crowd who constitute the GOP. And lastly and most importantly, Jindal will win the Governor's Mansion because we are talking about Louisiana after all.
That's what Carville is upset at. While he's tripping the life fantastic in his own career, his state is being lost to the GOP and it's everyone else's fault but his own. But, what could be more GOP thinking than that?
I don't think Carville will have too difficult a time fitting in the new Louisiana with such like minds running the show.
What Carville and Louisiana have in common is not just a history, but also, a future of irrelevance and immaterial need or effectiveness. Or to put it in terms Carville understands, "You're left sucking on the hind-tit, get over it."
I did.
